A change of style now. Some hot air balloon pics, I have thousands, but I will present some from Cappadocia in Turkey when I went there following the Istanbul One Challenge.

Grape vines planted in the unusual landscape. Later, the pilot took us down so that we could pick a bunch for breakfast, while still flying. He was an ex Turkish military helicopter pilot and make that balloon dance, really!

At last we're to see some of your Cappadocia pictures!  I had always wondered how they and the trip had turned out.  Seeing them makes me want to take a balloon trip over the fairy chimneys even more.  Hmm, perhaps after the Lyon One Challenge ...

Pete, those pics are but the tip of the iceberg! Totally recommend the adventure. Up front, bloody expensive, after the event fantastic value.

 

Talk to Tom and Eileen. They were there with Melanie and me. We all had a blast of an adventure.

Melanie and I went on to Egypt after Turkey. We did a Balloon flight there. It was a total disaster. The balloon crashed into a banana plantation. Maybe tomorrow night I will post some pics of that. :p

 

Ooops! In the light of day, I just read what I wrote, above. It reads as though we ballooned to Egypt! :o

We actually took a jet plane. The balloon was already in Egypt. :p

Yes, I recall that Tom and Eileen ended up on the same trip.  I'm hoping to see them this Saturday in York as it happens so I had intended to ask them about it.

The big advantage of Cappadocia over other balloon destinations is the fabulously interesting landscape that you fly through (rather than over). Also, there are many companies operating balloons and that makes for picturesque scenarios.
