First Look at the Leica M10-P with Ivor Cooper & Mike Evans

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the review, this is the most (and only) interesting video review of the M10-P yet.

Doing the shutter sound comparison, did you set them to the same shutter speed? The "lingering" sound on the M9 is of course the shutter re-cocking, the actual shutter sound is really not loud at all.

Is the touch screen only used for image viewing or can it be used for navigating the menus and settings? If this is the case I wonder why they kept the other buttons.

For me there is absolutely no feature to upgrade from my M10 to the M10-P

I only would like to own the top plate with the Leica logo.

Leica can engrave the top plate -  if you are prepared to pay for it

Or engrave the name of someone already famous and dead. ;-)

Including your own name/signature, which will likely devalue any resale.... unless you become famous and die.

But it is certainly a theft-deterrent.

I doubt thieves will return you the camera if ones name is engraved.

Yes, a good prevention against selling too, so also against GAS. Kind of tattoo, it’s irreversible, so you declare your eternal love. I’m inclined to engrave my MM1.

Out of curiosity, would an engraving of the Leica logo negatively impact on resale value?

Only for collectors ...

No, not if it's meant to be there (e.g. like the logo on these P models). It's the personal engraved signatures that will have some impact on resale value. I've yet to see one example – whether it's the engraved signature of a famous photographer or not – where I didn't think the camera would be preferable without it.

I was referring to an aftermarket engraving. For example, an engraving of the Leica logo on the top plate of an M-10

I’m already famous. But a Leica logo would be lovely. Any idea of the costs?
