stuny Posted August 21, 2018 Share #1 Posted August 21, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) The Guggenheim has a wonderful exhibit on Giacometti filling its entire spiral, and includes a film of Giacometti being interviewed as he sculpts. A wonderful exhibit. In one of the two galleries off the spiral is a Brancusi exhibit. this is looking into it from the spiral. BTW: the Guggenheim finally allows photography anywhere above the lobby. Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 Hi stuny, Take a look here Viewing Brancusi at a Giacometti exhibit. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
abrewer Posted August 22, 2018 Share #2 Posted August 22, 2018 Imagine if you could make a Brancusi the subject of every photograph you take: heaven, Stuart. You probably already know about it but the Nasher Sculpture Garden in Dallas has the most remarkable collection of modern sculpture I've ever seen. Brancusi, Giacometti, Dubuffet, Ernst, Arp, Judd, Johns, Oldenburg, Segal, Serra . . . it is a special place and must be on your itenerary if you've not already been there. Magnificent. war Posted August 22, 2018 Share #3 Posted August 22, 2018 I trust that's Brancusi's Muse, but does't she deserve a bit longer lens.
stuny Posted August 22, 2018 Author Share #4 Posted August 22, 2018 Michael & Herman - Thank you. Allan - thank you, and it's tempting. next time we're in Dallas. Wally - You identified it, part of their permanent collection. Also in that room was his Seal, my favorite. No photos there this time since I've shot them in the past. djmay Posted August 22, 2018 Share #5 Posted August 22, 2018 Lots of Giacometti here in Switzerland. Jesse
stuny Posted August 23, 2018 Author Share #6 Posted August 23, 2018 MN - Thank you Jesse - Thank you. Considering he was Swiss, and other than his Paris years lived in Switzerland I'd expect the country to be "packed" with his wonderful works. ShawnK Posted August 27, 2018 Share #7 Posted August 27, 2018 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Thnx for posting & tempting us. I saw the movie w/Jeffrey Rush as Giacometti in "Final Portrait". ... & loved it. I was hoping to see more of his sculptures but his painting of James Lord was really exceptional. With the exhibition closing by Sept 12th wish I could visit. Especially now that u pointed out @ relaxed photography rules. I imagine no tripod (understandable) but photography everywhere in the museum. Now I can go to the upper level to get closer to the skylight. stuny Posted August 28, 2018 Author Share #8 Posted August 28, 2018 Shawn - Thank you. Lighting is strong enough that you will not miss your tripod.
