Beseler Customer Service

The internet seems to be a great place to voice one's displeasure with a company's customer service but the positive stories rarely seem to get highlighted.  So I have to tip my hat to Beseler customer service which has been truly fantastic.

I bought a used 23CII XL a few months ago while accumulating gear to setup my home darkroom and honestly wasn't even sure that Beseler was still alive and kicking.  Well they certainly are and their customer service people are incredibly responsive and helpful.  I've sent several emails to them with questions and always receive a quick and knowledgable response (I hope they are paying Victoria well because she's truly amazing).

In a day and age when customer service is a four-letter word at most companies and company's making darkroom equipment have mostly gone the way of the Dodo bird, it's terrific to see a company like Beseler continue to support their old products so well.  Given my experience, I'd have no qualms buying another Beseler product and most likely will.

Thanks a lot. Have you got an address, email, site? I’m looking for a neutral density filter in my Beseler MXT because my Heiland head gives such short exposure times that I can hardly dodge and burn.

Their site is https://beselerphoto.com/.  I've been sending emails to customerservice@beseler.com.

Funny you should mention an ND filter, I was having a similar problem with short exposure times with my 23CII.  I did a bit of research online and came upon a great recommendation - Rosco Cinegel.  You can find it at places like BH Photo.  It works very well and it's dirt cheap - just about $6 for a 20"x24" sheet that can be easily cut and placed into the filter drawer of the enlarger.  I don't know much about the MXT so I'm not sure that it has such a filter drawer, but if it does this stuff has worked wonders in my setup.

Good to hear this. As an additional source of Beseler bits you might make a note of http://store.khbphotografix.com. I bought a focus knob extension from them to relieve my shoulder when using high enlarger elevations (wacked rotator cuff). KHB is in Canada but it's easy enough buying from them if you have trouble locating something from a US vendor. You might not like their prices but...

Thanks for the post and filter advice which followed with links, very useful. Darkrooom stuff starts experiencing some renaissance in some parts of the world and especially here in the US it seems. I wouldn't be surprised if Beseler is already seeing and recognizing this, too. They actually might have rising demand in their equipment including support of older enlergers and accessories. My suspicion is that you were not the first asking this kind of question in recent times. This nevertheless doesn't take anything away from the great service you experienced for sure!
