Advertisement Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 Hi jaapv, Take a look here The SS George Stephenson. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted August 20, 2018 Author Share #2 Posted August 20, 2018 An unique vessel. Built 2006-2014, making use of old parts. For instance, the windspeed indicator comes from H.M.S Ark Royal, the rudder indicator from H.M.S Vanguard. The captain's chair comes from ss Normandie. Driven by a 3 cylinder 150 HP compound short stroke steam engine, and an auxiliary 8 cylinder Gardner Diesel, it is equipped for open sea up to sixty miles offshore. Unfortunately I cannot afford to charter it for a few days, but here are some images. The outside shot is by CL and 18-56, the interior shots by M9 and Super-Elmar 18. I only was there for a short while, I could fill quite a few Gigabytes on board of the ship Welcome, dear visitor! stuny Posted August 20, 2018 Share #8 Posted August 20, 2018 A very lovely set and subject. I hope the African gray parrot gets almost continual attention, but it would be even better returned to its native wild.
stuny Posted August 20, 2018 Share #9 Posted August 20, 2018 Very nice.
jaapv Posted August 20, 2018 Author Share #10 Posted August 20, 2018 Agree, but being hand-reared from the egg, it would not survive. It gets its attention as far as I could see
Reini Posted August 20, 2018 Share #11 Posted August 20, 2018 Really nice (wooden) atmosphere on Bord!
abrewer Posted August 20, 2018 Share #12 Posted August 20, 2018 A magnificent steam vessel and even better photographs of her. An American asked why the Dutch were such superior shipbuilders and the Dutchman replied: "We put our engineers on a pedestal, you put your accountants." A lot of truth there.

jaapv Posted August 20, 2018 Author Share #14 Posted August 20, 2018 I think Rotterdam, although she is registered to something like the Cayman Islands.

In this case, I must agree, the workmanship is exceptional.
