The 12504 hood can be used with E49 filters.

 

I use mainly E49 filters that are cheaper and more common in different kinds than Series VII.

Some E49 filters may rattle a bit but can be put in the hood reverse front/rear for less rattle.

Same way as Series VII = unscrewing it's two parts then drop the filter in, screw in the two parts.

If some rattle occurs just reverse the E49 filter .

In my experience, some E49 filters rattle "right way" and some rattle "wrong way" in my 12504 hoods (not depending on 12504).

My E49 Leica filters don't seem to rattle but i place them in upside down. Never got any problem this way. YMMV.
