Pump house from across the lake, with downtown beyond. This lens is as sharp as any I own.

My 135 APO was one of the best lenses I've ever owned.  Tbh though as much as I tried, including with cropping and magnification, neither I nor any other Leica photographers I showed images to could consistently pick out the APO shots from ones made with my 1965 Tele-Elmar, or for that matter my 1960 Elmar.  That's not to knock the APO, it's to applaud Leica for having designed a trio of magnificent 135's over the years.

They are, all excellent. I also have a very good copy of the 135mm f4 Tele Elmar and a virtually mint copy of the 135mm f4 Elmar, also from 1960, that's easier to focus accurately because the focus throw is SO long.

Given the option, I prefer using the APO. Ergonomics are better than either of the other two 135's and identical to the other lenses in my bag like the 75mm f2 APO and 35/1.4 FLE, my 135 APO is brand-new so came factory six-bit coded, the built-in hood makes it too convenient for filter placement when I use color filters with the M246, the filter size is a match for the other longer focal length I use it in tandem with, the 75mm f2 and, being 40 years newer than one of the other 135's and 50 years newer than the other, it benefits from modern optical improvements/coatings.

It was one freakin' expensive lens, that's for sure, but I do love the thing.
