acmineiro Posted August 10, 2018 Share #1 Posted August 10, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is it possible to shoot infrared images using a IR filter in B&W mode on the M262? Thanks for the replies.
Advertisement Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 Hi acmineiro, Take a look here Infrared. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
david strachan Posted August 10, 2018 Share #2 Posted August 10, 2018 (edited) Yes it is. But i find it's better shot in raw, and then converted to B&W, in LR for example. If you find focus is difficult, use the EV. That's how i do it with my M-P (typ 240). ... Edited August 10, 2018 by david strachan
marchyman Posted August 10, 2018 Share #3 Posted August 10, 2018 No live view or EV with an M 262.
mmradman Posted August 10, 2018 Share #4 Posted August 10, 2018 No live view or EV with an M 262. Small price to pay for Leica essentials.
david strachan Posted August 11, 2018 Share #5 Posted August 11, 2018 No live view or EV with an M 262.Oh, yes my mistake. It only shoots in raw too, doesn't it...no B&W mode? ...
adan Posted August 11, 2018 Share #6 Posted August 11, 2018 You can, but unlike the M8, the newer M's have an IR "ISO" of about 4. (1/30th sec. @ f/8 in sunlight). You have to set a fairly high actual ISO on the camera to avoid long exposure times. And you need a strong "visible-light-blocking" deep red filter to get the IR to stand out. I don't know (and I own a 262). Let me see.... You can shoot jpeg and you can set the Saturation to B&W if you want B&W jpegs. That's for the M 262. The M-D 262 might be different.
pico Posted August 12, 2018 Share #8 Posted August 12, 2018 (edited) Yes it is. But i find it's better shot in raw, and then converted to B&W, in LR for example. Unfortunately that does not achieve IR's particular ability to see through haze. It is necessary to use a lens filter. david strachan Posted August 12, 2018 Share #9 Posted August 12, 2018 Yes, need the IR filter, of course. So shoot raw with filter, then convert to B&W. ...

cobbu2 Posted August 31, 2018 Share #12 Posted August 31, 2018 It's even possible with a B+W 093; it takes a good dose of exposure though, here an example with the M240, Canon 50/1.4 LTM lens at f/2, 1/30th sec, ISO 1600: The M8 is still my preferred approach to digital IR though, IMO much easier to work with.
