Schöne Grüße!
Ich habe dies auf dem internationalen Q-Thread gepostet. Entschuldigung für die Deutschen, da ich sie nicht gut schreibe und mich auf Google Translate verlassen habe.

Hi all,

Of course, this site has 2 separate sets of threads: German and "International". It's pretty self-evident why that's so, even in the age of the increasingly effective Google Translate:

https://translate.google.com/?hl=en

Leica forum serves lots of purposes, most important are two: sharing information about cameras and other technical aspects of photography, and sharing photos. Sharing information may be a bit awkward if you aren't fluent in the other language (I read, but don't write German), though it still might be worthwhile checking in occasionally with Google Translate, since they might be writing about something we could learn from, and they do tend to have more conversations about technical matters than are found on the "International" forum.

However, it strikes me as odd that we don't usually share photographs. (There are a few Q contributors mainly to the German site who also contribute to the "International" site as well.) The sites differ a bit in emphasis. The German site doesn't have separate (that I could find) macro or infrared threads (there is much less emphasis on those approaches even in the general photo thread), but there are a lot more photos of bicycles (I'm a huge fan).

Wouldn't it be nice just to wander over there occasionally (the other day, I posted a few photos) and appreciate their work? Ditto to encourage them to come over here? Comments on photos don't require much language: sehr scho"n! is pretty much all you need.

Anyway, in a world that suddenly seems so fragmented, why not us do just a little to enlarge community?
