Dear all,

I just received my new Leica M10 this weekend, and so far this camera exceeds my expectation.  As I was inspecting closer my camera this evening (I had nothing better to do...), I noticed a few things:

What material is the mount made of?  I noticed some dark marks in some areas (see photos) and originally I though those were fissures/micro cracks.  But then I told myself it surely cannot be, that mount should be as hard as titanium!!!.  I run my nail along those marks and I don't feel anything or voids, so I assume it is just some finish scratches from mounting/unmounting my Voigtlander lens on and from it.  I don't have a magnifying lens and my eyes don't focus that well close up.  Could someone take a look at their mount and tell me if you see some of those marks and whether they are purely cosmetic in nature?

Also, regarding the leaf spring (there are 3 of them along the mount/flange), can someone confirm the one closer to the frame line selector lever looks asymmetric like the photo I took?  I assume because my Voigtlander lens is a 35mm, the lever is unloaded and points to the 1:00 o'clock position.  For a different focal length lens, the flange is designed to interact with the mechanism of the frame line and activate the lever automatically?  I don't have any other M-mount lenses, so I can't try it.

I apologize if those questions were already asked...

Thank you for the help

#1 Leica mount the camera on a test rig and check many things before they send it into the wider world. They may do it many times. I imagine the tiny, tiny, scuff mark you noticed is related to this, or indeed you have damaged it yourself in daring to mount a lens.

#2 Yes the spring is asymmetric.

Thanks Steve,  I checked under the microscope at work and it is just a finish mark, nothing structural...
