madrigalmaster Posted July 24, 2018 Share #1 Posted July 24, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) In the users manual of the Leica M10 it suggests the use of TETENAL ANTIDUST PROFESSIONAL. I can not find any place in the USA where to buy it. Does anybody know where to buy this low pressure spray cleaner in the US? If not available for some reason, is it a replacement product? Thanks Luis
Advertisement Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 Hi madrigalmaster, Take a look here leica sensor cleaner. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted July 24, 2018 Share #2 Posted July 24, 2018 I don't care whether Leica recommends it. Using an air spray on my sensor would be the last thing I'd do. Anyway, shipping outside the EU by air is prohibited, so it'll be hard to find in the USA.

adan Posted July 25, 2018 Share #5 Posted July 25, 2018 (edited) Actually, canned compressed "air" (well, difluoroethane (Dust-Off) or dimethylether (Tetenal)) is the first thing I use on a sensor. Most of the cans here in the US produce variable flow depending on finger pressure on the valve, so I use gentle pressure. Gets rid of any dust not yet "glued" to the glass - often all I need. Usually Dust-Off brand - in a pinch, Office Depot brand. For more resistant dust, I then use an "Arctic Butterfly" to electrostatically brush down the sensor. https://visibledust.com/products3.php?pid=712 Last resort for troublesome dust (about 1 in 3 cleanings) - Photographic Solutions' Eclipse fluid and flat swabs (1"). https://photosol.com/products/ Edited July 25, 2018 by adan
albertknappmd Posted July 25, 2018 Share #6 Posted July 25, 2018 I have been using the following CO2 spray for years without any issue on my M and S camera . https://www.americanrecorder.com/collections/gas-dusters/products/co2-dust-particle-remover-74-gram?variant=1275573448 I would avoid regular compressed air as it has fluorocarbons and other impurities... The pure CO2 products don't have that issue. Also, remember that any spray is fine for dust particles but if there is oil or grit, then you need to wet clean... However, most of the time, a simple ARCTIC Butterfly cleaning will suffice. If not, go with CO2 and wet cleaning in that order... Albert
albertknappmd Posted July 25, 2018 Share #7 Posted July 25, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Leica also recommends the little sticky brush for discrete particles. I have used it to good effect if the Arctic butterfly fails... make sure you get the one for LEICA Albert

250swb Posted July 26, 2018 Share #9 Posted July 26, 2018 An Eyelead or similar sticky swab is the better solution for dealing with lose dust, it removes dust out of the camera body whereas can of compressed air or a Rocket blower redistributes dust inside the camera body, you have no idea where the dust has gone or if it will reappear later. Yes I know it's the same old 'I've never had a problem' thing.
