bherman01545 Posted July 24, 2018 Share #1 Posted July 24, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I too am contemplating a CL. I already have an SL and a Q and like the idea of a small, APS-C interchangeable lens kit. After reading several reviews, many folks have been surprised as to "why" the battery door seems so "flimsy? Myself included. So, first of all, I doubt that Leica would be cutting corners and reduce the perceived quality of a component of one of their cameras simply to reduce cost. It had me thinking... On my SL, there is a small plastic hump on the top-left side of the camera supposedly to facilitate Wi-Fi connectivity. Perhaps the Wi-Fi module on the CL is located in on the lower-right portion of the body? Since the top and bottom are milled aluminum and the body/chassis is magnesium alloy, this is why they resorted to a semi-metallic or plastic battery door cover? One thing is for certain, only the Leica engineers know for sure (;-) -Brad

wda Posted July 24, 2018 Share #2 Posted July 24, 2018 An interesting theory. If MJH was an active still, he might have had the answer.
jaapv Posted July 24, 2018 Share #3 Posted July 24, 2018 It may appear flimsy, but it does survive my none-too-careful use. It looks a lot like the Panasonic doors, which are quite robust as well.
