horosu Posted July 21, 2018 Share #1 Posted July 21, 2018 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I have a titanium Summilux 35 pre-asph (11860) and I use it with the 12504 hood and a Series VII filter. Now I noticed that the lens has a front thread. Did anyone try to put a E41 filter on it (E39 doesn't work, a notch too small)? Advertisement Posted July 21, 2018 Posted July 21, 2018 Hi horosu, Take a look here Summilux 35 pre-asph Type II and E41 filters?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
cp995 Posted July 21, 2018 Share #2 Posted July 21, 2018 E41 with 12504 hood should be fine https://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/35mm_f/1.4_Summilux_II
horosu Posted July 21, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted July 21, 2018 Hello Chris, I meant without the 12504 hood: screwed directly on the front thread of the lens
lct Posted July 21, 2018 Share #4 Posted July 21, 2018 There is no filter thread on this lens, at least not on my black German one from 1989. Only way of using filters is therefore the 12504 or similar third party hood AFAIK.
horosu Posted July 21, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted July 21, 2018 Isn't this a filter thread? Welcome, dear visitor! lct Posted July 21, 2018 Share #6 Posted July 21, 2018 It is not i'm afraid. Those lenses have no filter thread due to vignetting caused by 39mm filters on a large front element AFAIK.
horosu Posted July 21, 2018 Author Share #7 Posted July 21, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) it looks like one to me. Anyway. my E39 filters don't fit, E41 would be perfect. I wonder if anyone tried screwing one of these into this thread
a.noctilux Posted July 21, 2018 Share #8 Posted July 21, 2018 No, it's not a threaded ring. I had one some years ago in same Ti finish but now in black (no thread in front in this one neither): just parallel grooves Try to follow the grooves on yours
horosu Posted July 21, 2018 Author Share #9 Posted July 21, 2018 (edited) just parallel grooves Try to follow the grooves on yours Oops! Could be true. Such a pity! The lens is a total pleasure to use wihout a hood (despite the higher flare propensity): the wings of the aperture ring make changing aperture and focusing with a single finger a breeze. On a Summicron pre-asph, as far as I remember, changing the aperture needs two fingers. Edited July 21, 2018 by horosu
