Hi guys,

It's time to move on. The SL has been replaced by a bigger (though ironically not newer) model in the guise of an S (007) that local dealer, whom I have spent a lot with over the years, gave me an offer on I couldn't say no to.

Engaging with you has been a truly rewarding experience. I made some mistakes, got rightly called out, reflected and learned and made some friends. Thank you, sincerely thank you. I hope to still see some of you over on the S forum and perhaps when funds allow the S will get an SL sister and I will be back.

We're not snobs! Even though you have downgraded to the S . . . we will still talk to you, and allow you to post on our sub-forum!

Well, each to his own...So the S's advantages in terms of IQ  have to be apparently essential for your needs...I'm sure you have (hopefully) enough considered that you will be loosing some huge benefits the mirrorless SL offers, e.g. no more focus-calibration issues (contrary to any DSLR or Rangefinder) or the availability of face/eye detection...?

Best of luck.

I presume it was the deal that seduced you ...... I'd have thought a Hassy X1D would have been a better option if you are after the benefits of a >FF sensor.  ;)

I'm not sure I would be contemplating anything other than mirrorless in future .....

It was less that than the form factor of the S. I tested the second hand (006) they had in the store for about a week and just fell in love with it. I ididn't like the X1D because the view finder is horrible (everything other than an OVF is terrible after the SL) and the lens selection is very limited (the 70mm summarit is perfect for me). The lenses also being leaf shutter only is also a big limiting factor.

I've enjoyed and admired your portraiture and your particular approach/style/technique with your subjects brings out their characters so well. Look forward to seeing more of your portrait 'results' on the S forum.

Good luck

You've always been very kind in your compliments Dunk, thank you for that.

Just for your interest, here are a few with the S. The tonal transition is simply stunning in my view.

Your work is really lovely, worthy of moving to the top camera on the heap.  Though I suspect you'd put many of us to shame with your iPhone.  Good luck, and we will follow you over in the S Forum.
