D-Lux (typ 109) 49-area metering question

Recommended Posts

It essentially takes light readings from those 49 points and then creates an average to set exposure for that shot. It’s failsafe. It works well on scenes with low contrast. If you have something specific in the shot you want perfectly exposed then center weighted or spot metering will give you greater precision. This applies even more to scenes with high contrast: do you want the detail from the brighter parts of the scene or from the shadows perfectly exposed? With center weighted or spot you are “encouraged” to make more of a conscious decision about exposure.

Very good, thank you !   Though I am still not knowing why there are many small little green boxes appearing on the screen when press the shutter lightly when using this metering mode, and seems as soon released and light pressing again those small green boxes area changed even though I may keep the same composition... ?
