Mandatory spring image ;) - from the garden - in-between branches and leaves... S3 with 280mm APO-Telyt-R f4 @f4 + 1.4x APO-Extender.

Amazing!

Agree; the 280mm f4 APO-Telyt-R is an optical masterpiece (particularly at shortish to mid distances), and the 1,4x APO-Extender-R does hardly impact the image quality at all.

For those interested: Details can be seen on a decent desktop screen, click and open the image at 2000 pixel resolution; veins are seen in the Robin's mouth & the feather is nicely rendered without artefact(s).

I remember when I was young I went with friends to a stargazing shelter being unaware of this. Imagine the reaction of my friends when, after an hour of dark adaptation, I took this photo with the flash! They too - however - pointed to the stars with their fingers in complete darkness ...

The lens used should be the last to get credit for this photo.  After all, it was the photographer who made the decisions of how the picture should be taken.  This photo has a very pleasing analogous color pallet that makes the photo soothing to the eyes.  Of course the bird also gets credit for choosing to land where he did.  Nice job helged and Mr. Bird.
