London's naturalised Rose-ringed Parakeet (Psittacula krameri).  The parakeets were brought to London to add exotic atmosphere during the filming of 'The African Queen', a film set in Africa starring Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn, and the parakeets escaped and took up residence in London where they have thrived.

Simple portrait.

APO Elmarit R 180mm mk 1, Leitax converted to Nikon F mount and shot with Nikon D700 at ISO 6400.  Some noise in the shadows can be seen, it is after all 2007 sensor technology.

Looking at it on phone but damn this photo seems so sharp!! Great lighting too!! Given the right conditions a 13 year old camera can still shine.. nice!!!

The sensor in Nikon D3 and D700 is 2007 vintage, it was ISO limited compared to modern sensors and lot of Nikkor lenses were pretty average, (or maybe I was below average), reason I ventured into Leica, it really shone with R lenses. At the time when I shot similar pictures with M9 and and D700 with sharp Zeiss or Leica lens I preferred image from 12Mp over 18Mp. Rather than being DSLR if at that time the camera was mirrorless that would probably* be the last camera I would ever bought.

* never underestimate GAS.

I used the Hasselblad 907x fitted with Leitz Macro-Elmarit-R 60mm f/2.8 as a copy camera to obtain high-resolution scans of about 160 or so Polaroid prints today. Very pleased with the results! :)

Polaroid 600 Color
