Advertisement Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 Hi Stonewall Brigade, Take a look here R lenses give me the macro capability that I can't quite achieve with M lenses. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Musotographer Posted June 26, 2018 Share #2 Posted June 26, 2018 Some lovely shots there. Do you generally use a tripod for this sort of photography? - as a rather casual user of a couple of macro lenses (60/2.8, 35-70/4) I very rarely achieve this sort of result.

ellisson Posted June 26, 2018 Share #4 Posted June 26, 2018 Gorgeous artistic floral work with a variety of lenses on the M10. Among my favorites is the image with a great compression effect using the telyt-R 400mm 6.8 lens.
Stonewall Brigade Posted June 26, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted June 26, 2018 Some lovely shots there. Do you generally use a tripod for this sort of photography? - as a rather casual user of a couple of macro lenses (60/2.8, 35-70/4) I very rarely achieve this sort of result. I always use a tripod and the M10's built-in 2 second timer in the menu option, ISO 100 and around f/8 aperture. I have tried to use an old school shutter release cable but I keep losing them, as the threads don't seem to fit well between the M10 and the cable. The only time I hand hold a camera with flowers is when I'm going after a super wide angle close up, and for that I use my Q.

Yes, I have researched the threads here about resizing an image and having a Flickr account, etc. But I have not yet perfected all that yet. Stonewall Brigade Posted June 26, 2018 Author Share #7 Posted June 26, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Gorgeous artistic floral work with a variety of lenses on the M10. Among my favorites is the image with a great compression effect using the telyt-R 400mm 6.8 lens. Thanks. I decided to trade back in the 400mm as I just could not get a consistent sharp focus with the M10 and focus peaking. The "trombone" style focus with that lens, especially if the lens is stiff to slide, and the extremely narrow "focus peaking" band, was not easy. And, the 400mm lens is rather basic and not very stateof the art in terms of lens elements. It may be sharp for some, but I am doing much better now with the 350mm-R lens that I found. gbealnz Posted June 26, 2018 Share #9 Posted June 26, 2018 Thanks Gary. Yes, I have researched the threads here about resizing an image and having a Flickr account, etc. But I have not yet perfected all that yet. Great. Flickr account isn't required of course, ( have one, but haven't mastered how to, so don't use it). Simply "attach" the image and the forum does the rest. Stonewall Brigade Posted June 28, 2018 Author Share #13 Posted June 28, 2018 These are indeed stunning photographs :-) Thanks, guys. Isn't it fun to use a rangefinder for a type of macro photography that Leica Ms are not often thought of as the ideal camera?

On the recommendation from a member here I got hold of an APO Telyt-R 180mm f/3.4 but wouldn't have thought tom make use of it like you! And BTW absolutely stunning Photos! Preben You are correct that the Telyt-R 180mm has a long minimum focusing point and is only ideal when the subject matter fills the camera screen. For most flower macro images, I can use my R 60, 100 Macro, or my 350mm to "get close" to the subject. Some of the water lily flowers are not easily accessible since they live out in a pond of water. That's when I need the 350mm. My normal M lenses just don't focus close enough, maybe my Summarit-M 75mm f/2.4 is good for flower photography.
