dugby Posted June 17, 2018 Share #4 Posted June 17, 2018 Why the devil cannot they make the RF adjustment screw align exactly the same? Details, details! It's another selling feature, as each camera is unique by the position of the screw head, the price goes up. If you want it set to a particular orientation, that cost's more.
250swb Posted June 17, 2018 Share #5 Posted June 17, 2018 Why the devil cannot they make the RF adjustment screw align exactly the same? Details, details! For the same reason they can't make a rangefinder that doesn't need adjusting.
jaapv Posted June 17, 2018 Share #6 Posted June 17, 2018 Why the devil cannot they make the RF adjustment screw align exactly the same? Details, details! That is deliberate design. It emphasizes that each screw is filed by hand by a master craftsman who, as a young apprentice, was a personal friend of Oscar Barnack, staying on after retirement because nor a machine nor a less experienced slit-cutter could ever cut such a subtle slit. It is hoped that his successor, who he has been training for the last sixteen years, will be able to take over in another three or four years.
