My VLUX 114 is set on pin point focus. For two years I have pushed the button half way down for for perfect focus, then pulled the trigger.

Today, when I push the trigger half way down the camera immediately fires away.

HELP

Also, should I consider a Q?

My wife has a V114 but I do not know much about it. Is there a setting that changed inadvertently? Can you do a factory reset? And I am not sure if I am the Bill you are referring to. I have never owned the Q but it is a very nice camera. If your V114 is not going to work for you, why not get another one? FWIW.

The other Bill is Bill Schneider from the Pacific NW.

I've not experienced this, and assuming you're certain that it's not "pilot error," the first two things I'd try are:

  • taking out the battery and reinstalling it, and see if that makes a difference.
  • In the menu do a reset to factory settings.  That of course removes any settings you've made (date, time, time zone, language, resolution, if you use the interpolation electronic zoom, etc.) which you'll need to adjust after the reset.

Let us know what happens.

I'm moving this thread to where more VLux 114 users will be likely to see it.

The LX100 certainly has an option (Custom menu, p.2) to switch on/off Half Press Release. The  menus will be different on the VLUX, of course, but you should find something in there, I'd have thought

Hi Al,

I've played around with mine and have just a couple of things for you to check. I'm not sure these settings need to be this way to have the focus hold when the shutter is pressed half way down, but try them and see what happens. (Photos below) You also might see if changing from Pinpoint focus to 1-Area focus to see if you have the problem with both settings.

In answer to your question about buying a Q, my recommendation would be to consider the CL with the 18-56mm lens. The image quality is superb and with the zoom lens it is far more versatile than the Q. I sold my Q right after buying the CL/18-56mm combo.

Thanx everyone.Brent: no go, I thought you hit the jackpot but problem persists. I’ll call Leica tomorrow. I’m at the cabin and am getting some good shots despite the problem. Checking on CL now, hiding my curiosity from THE CFO.

Well, today is Fathers Day. Maybe you could use that to your advantage.

  • 2 weeks later...

Is the zoom control working smoothly i.e. not hesitantly? If it's not as smooth as when new, could be indicative of soiled contacts which might also affect shutter release.

…  remedied with SERVISOL which when applied very sparingly does no harm
