Likaleica Posted June 14, 2018 Share #1 Posted June 14, 2018 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Did I miss the big L-mount camera announcement scheduled for June 14? Usually takes a couple extra days for news to reach Idaho. The ponies run every third day. Edited June 14, 2018 by Likaleica

geetee1972 Posted June 15, 2018 Share #7 Posted June 15, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've spoken to both the London and Manchester Leica stores this week (because I've been trying to decide between a CL, M and whatever was/is going to be announced in L mount this week). Both of them have said categorically there is no FF camera announcement happening this week or, if there is, no one has been given any information about it, non of the country MDs know anything about it, there is no advance publicity material and there is no additional marketing budget for a new camera of this nature. There is the new C-Lux coming and in the process of making a purchase in the Leica store, I was kindly asked not to look at the pictures of that camera that the store had been sent. The reps from both stores are attending the opening of the new park at Weitzlar today so if anything camera related is going to be announced, it will be this afternoon, but it seems like the Leica store people themselves are only expecting the C-Lux that has already been 'leaked/announced'.
Doc_P Posted June 15, 2018 Share #8 Posted June 15, 2018 Sometimes, the Leica dealers are quite well informed before, e.g. the T - now TL -introduction... Sometimes there are surprises. for them, too. So lets wait and see ...
scott kirkpatrick Posted June 15, 2018 Share #9 Posted June 15, 2018 My contacts don't seem to have preliminary info except for the C-Lux, either. Or lenses. I think anything announced later today will have a long lead time. I would find it reasonable to expect a lens rollout intended to occupy 2109 and 2020, for example. (Add your personal extension estimator to such dates.)

geetee1972 Posted June 15, 2018 Share #12 Posted June 15, 2018 Watches!!?? Seriously? So disappointing.... If you think that's bad, wait until you see the rebadged Panasonic they'll unveil later.
darylgo Posted June 15, 2018 Share #13 Posted June 15, 2018 Watches could be synergistic with cameras for Leica, bringing new people to the brand that have never heard the name. They get seriously involved with photography only to abandon it two years later, selling everything in like-new condition, or they might become the new owner :-)
Guest VVJ Posted June 15, 2018 Share #14 Posted June 15, 2018 I've been trying to decide between a CL, M and whatever was/is going to be announced in L mount this week To replace or to complement the SL?
lx1713 Posted June 15, 2018 Share #15 Posted June 15, 2018 A watch with a built in incident light meter would be helpful for myself A built-in color meter, better yet

Bill W Posted June 15, 2018 Share #17 Posted June 15, 2018 Nothing so far announced is anything I am interested in. A $21,000 M camera, a couple of manual winding watches and some special edition versions of existing cameras!!!! Perhaps there is more to come.
geetee1972 Posted June 16, 2018 Share #18 Posted June 16, 2018 a couple of manual winding watches Are the watches not self winding?
Bill W Posted June 16, 2018 Share #19 Posted June 16, 2018 Are the watches not self winding? Being a lover of watches as wells Leica camera's, I was intrigued by the watches. They are nice looking in a retro way and I read as much as I could find but it appears they will be manual winding. There are still some manual wind Swiss watches made but they are usually for some very expensive and one off examples.
LD_50 Posted June 16, 2018 Share #20 Posted June 16, 2018 I often wear a manually wound Panerai Radiomir that bought about five years ago. Manual vs automatic doesn’t say much about the brand or value.
