Advertisement Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 Hi DanielJr, Take a look here Can you use S lens on T,TL,TL2,CL?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest VVJ Posted May 19, 2018 Share #2 Posted May 19, 2018 No, you can't. The S-adapter-L only works on the Leica SL and with some limitations 1) You can't eg. stack with the Contax 645 adapter and use Contax 645 lenses on the SL 2) The Central Shutter function of the Leica S CS lenses is not supported. I believe this answer is correct but I vaguely remember Leica changing firmware to allow adapters to work or work with more features. I no longer have a camera to test but Leica Stores will. Get a good grip on the setup, the body is too small to hold those S lenses easily :-)
Guest VVJ Posted May 20, 2018 Share #4 Posted May 20, 2018 I believe this answer is correct but I vaguely remember Leica changing firmware to allow adapters to work or work with more features. I no longer have a camera to test but Leica Stores will. Get a good grip on the setup, the body is too small to hold those S lenses easily :-) Still the case AFAIK. The Leica website and Leica Store Miami both only list the M-adapter-L and the R-adapter-L in the CL/TL accessories section. The only recent compatibility change that I recall is that with the TL2/CL the OIS function of the SL-lenses is supported. Other than that I don't recall any recent changes. If I ever find my adapter again (it seems to have vanished) I will try it out.
Guest VVJ Posted May 20, 2018 Share #5 Posted May 20, 2018 I found the adapter again and I can confirm now that it is still not supported on the CL. When you turn on the camera you get a message "This adapter is not supported".
darylgo Posted May 20, 2018 Share #6 Posted May 20, 2018 Thanks! Given the ergonomics I doubt this is on the short list of Leica updates.
DanielJr Posted May 20, 2018 Author Share #7 Posted May 20, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hopefully in the future this can happen. Just imagine only needing to buy S lens and can use them all of Leica cameras.
darylgo Posted May 20, 2018 Share #8 Posted May 20, 2018 The 70mm S is a great SL lens, somewhat normal, portrait, fast, sharp and easy to use on the SL with the grip.

And you only get about 3 fps when using S-lenses on the SL.
Guest VVJ Posted May 29, 2018 Share #10 Posted May 29, 2018 (edited) And you only get about 3 fps when using S-lenses on the SL. I didn't know that but given that I am still on the old AF motors that is probably a good thing... Edited May 29, 2018 by JorisV
