Two M10R here. With WATE and MATE = 6 focal lengths to choose from 🙂 Otherwise I like to have just one with a wide and one with a medium long focal length.

I’m a very happy M10-D user but am considering pairing with a screened M10 variant (likely M10-P)

I did the same last year with a M10-Reporter but considering my digital usage is low I felt kinda guilty and sold the Reporter. (Especially considering the same sensor technology in a different finish would cost me only just over 50% of what I spent on the Reporter).

But now I am on a trip I wish I had 2 bodies with me , I am travelling with 35-50-90 and would prefer to have the 35 permanently mounted on one body and a longer lens on the other.

What do others think about buying another M10 (24 MB) in 2023 ?

I tend to think of these things somewhat simplistically: If the M10-D is producing the image quality that satisfies you and you want a second body, any of the M10s with the same same 24Mpixel sensor will do, and you can save a good bit to buy a good secondhand camera from a reputable dealer.

I'd be inclined to agree, thanks

I've owned a M10-P ASC edition as a daily carry since 2021 and instead of getting a M10-R or M11, decided this year to pair it with a M10-P Safari so that handling (file sizes, settings, batteries) will be the same when I travel.  Here they are with the black chrome 35mm Summicron (11689) and the matte black 28mm Summicron (11725).  I don't like to change lenses in the field and a two-body setup (especially when they happen to be M bodies) is my preferred way to travel.

For my shooting style, I don't want or need the higher resolution of the M10-R/M11 and I'm good with the dynamic range and highlight capabilities of the M10-P.  It's still a good performer - to me - in 2023.

No slouch mate, the m10 is quite capable, and since its release, the compact body makes it perfect to carry alongside any film M or any M10 n above! Seamless

Thanks mate ! Must admit it I don’t have any issues with M10-D image quality.  Occasional blown cloud in the sky can be annoying but not really that relevant to my photography style and easily avoided also 🤩

@grahamc

I have an M10D and am also looking to add another body. I’m torn between getting a M10M and an M10R BP.

Problem is I don’t really want to go back to a thick M body with a protruding screen and buttons. The M10D is so nice in the hand it ruins all other digital cameras for me at least.

Im also waiting to see if Leica will make a smaller M shaped camera with an EVF.

Yes I just admit we are spoiled with the D.  My Reporter was a beautiful camera but as a hybrid shooter I just thought the screen looked and felt a bit ugly.

Speaking of hybrid shooting, if I was to bring 2 digital bodies on a trip then I’d also need my MP. And 3 bodies seems to much. So I think I’ve landed at the decision just to keep only the D as a digital camera right now and accept that I need to change lenses often when travelling. Especially as I barely use digital when at home these days.

It seems unlikely to me that we will see an 11D but if we do I’ll buy it without hesitation and probably be thankful that I didn’t get a second body earlier

I was told by a discreet leaker which has credible trust in the past, we wont be seeing any D in M11, i asked because i almost got the chance to grab M10D last week 😂😂😂 and i think steve also said the same thing

M10D is just worth as much as M10R BP if not more in my book.. stay with that for life mate, dont make the sake mistake i did

and you are so right bout resigning having to switch lenses between shoots if you have to.. the only reason why i carried 3 bodies, 2 digital and 1 film is because, my M11 never gave me the peace of mind when travelling… at least not as much as the M10’s and when on the street, i would only carry 2 bodies and 1 digital left in the hotel room

@jakontil I wouldn't buy an Leica 11 M D anyway unless they went back to the traditional shutter mechanism.

I don't want an M with a povel mirrorless shutter.

Im tempted to find a Leica M10 BP and put the top and bottom plates on my M10D but I hear that the dimensions are a bit bigger to accommodate the screen...

ah yeah i missed that point, the traditional shutter mechanism, i agree with you on this..

interesting findings with the thickness, i thought they all the same and the screen is rooted to the magnesium body instead of the top plate? i might be wrong.. but it's sick idea to tinker with
