jmahto Posted May 14, 2018 Share #1 Posted May 14, 2018 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been using Scandisk 64GB Extreme Pro (95MB/s) card in my M240 since beginning (3+ years) and never had a problem. However in last two months, I got two corrupted pictures. This is from today. Is it my camera or the card? Welcome, dear visitor! Exodies Posted May 14, 2018 Share #2 Posted May 14, 2018 (edited) I don’t know the answer but I would replace the card. If the error comes back on a new card then send the camera to Leica. If the problem doesn’t come back on a new card after two months then throw the old card away. ETA give the card socket in the camera a thorough blow out first. steamboat Posted May 14, 2018 Share #4 Posted May 14, 2018 I don’t know the answer but I would replace the card. If the error comes back on a new card then send the camera to Leica. If I were you I'd purchase an inexpensive 16Gb card and see how that works. Be sure to reformat in camera before using. I have about 10 SD cards that I rotate thru my camera. The newest exposed card goes to the back of the line. I then reformat the card I'm going to use in camera. The "plus" in all this is that the 'old' cards are the ultimate backup until they're reused. I've never had to go back one of them since I also back up to an external after download. Anyway (sorry I got off track) the new card may help. Good luck.

lct Posted May 15, 2018 Share #6 Posted May 15, 2018 Before throwing such a great card away i would format it with SD Formatter.

Why not format in the camera? Is there a difference (and one better than other)?
lct Posted May 15, 2018 Share #8 Posted May 15, 2018 Why not format in the camera? Is there a difference (and one better than other)? Don't repeat it please but i never formats my cards in my cameras, be them Sony, Fuji or Leica because Sony in-camera formatting is destructive, Leica because my cards are too slow otherwise (on the M240 at least) and Fuji because i treated my X-E2 the same way as my other cameras. I would try SD Formatter if i were you and see what happens.
CharlesL Posted May 15, 2018 Share #9 Posted May 15, 2018 Before throwing such a great card away i would format it with SD Formatter. Or, if you have access to a Windows PC with an SD card slot, get a report from chkdsk and then do a complete format with format and then format it in the Leica.

Didn't think of running chkdsk. Will sure do. Thanks.
jdlaing Posted May 15, 2018 Share #11 Posted May 15, 2018 Why not format in the camera? Is there a difference (and one better than other)? Once the basic setup of the card is done via SD Format it is always best to format or erase pics in the camera. It has no effect on the longevity of the card.
