MikeTaylor Posted May 11, 2018 Share #1 Posted May 11, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) My (really) old iMac (2007) has given up the ghost on Lr and I was thinking of using my 2012 Air for it until I can upgrade the desktop. Is there a benefit of using CC rather than Classic on the laptop. I've bever used it but it seems to look like a cut down version of the full Classic. Is it a Lite version? TIA.Mike
Advertisement Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 Hi MikeTaylor, Take a look here Lr Classic or CC on a 2012 Macbook Air. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Exodies Posted May 11, 2018 Share #2 Posted May 11, 2018 It has a reduced functionality. If you have good internet access you could also try Lightroom CC over the web on your iMac. I imagine but haven’t tried it that this would give the best performance on old hardware. https://lightroom.adobe.com/
Jeff S Posted May 11, 2018 Share #3 Posted May 11, 2018 (edited) I vastly prefer LR Classic CC, which replaces the standalone (perpetual license) functionality. Cloud storage is optional... I refuse. The LR CC model lacks a lot.... for now. Here are the system requirements.... https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/system-requirements.html Jeff Edited May 11, 2018 by Jeff S
Exodies Posted May 11, 2018 Share #4 Posted May 11, 2018 LR Classic lacks some things, LR CC lacks some things, not using the cloud lacks some things. Fortunately all three work together quite seamlessly. The combined result is your pics available on all your devices, local copy and cloud backup, edits synchronised everywhere, LR and photoshop latest technology all the time. The only thing they could do to improve it is to reduce the price.
Jeff S Posted May 11, 2018 Share #5 Posted May 11, 2018 (edited) Different strokes... LR Classic CC gives me just what I need for now, on my desktop and laptop. If and when cloud storage is mandated, I’ll say goodbye to Adobe. Jeff Edited May 11, 2018 by Jeff S
