Can anybody explain why when I download my pics the jpegs are different sizes to the raw files and how do I rectify?

They will always be a different size (larger) than the raw file. You can select how big the jpegs are when taken. They are processed in camera. Not sure if this is what you are asking.

Bill, that was not always the case so it's something I must have done. It's not about file size but image size.

Not sure I can tell what is going on here. Someone else might need to step in.

You have probably inadvertently set the sensor format to APSC, so it is being cropped when viewed as a JPG. The DNG remains unchanged. 

 

I spent the whole day doing this once and was mighty confused till I checked the menu settings.

This would make sense. Something I have not done yet.....!

All RAW files are 24Mp, JPG can be selected as either large, medium or small or 24, 12 or 6 Mp. Go into settings and select size you need/want.

Thank you, that worked. As a matter of interest what photo aspect ratio do you prefer?

I have always stuck to the standard 35mm 3:2 ....... but I will crop to any size and shape in processing to get the optimal final image.

I also have always stuck with the standard 35mm 3:2 FWIW
