Lens Noise upon startup and power down

Hi Everyone,

 

I'm new to the Leica world and to this forum.  Just purchased a used Leica Q and had a quick question for you guys.

 

Is it normal to hear the lens initialize upon powering up and shutting down?  I've rented one not too long ago and don't recall it making this sound.  I am aware of the OIS and whirling sound, though this sound I'm referring to is strictly when turning on and off the camera. I've research for the question to no avail.

Yes, the sound you hear during powering up and shutting down is completely normal. Do not worry.

I have been living with that sound since November 2016. Go out and take tons of photos, make it work hard for you and as long as it gives you excellent results, it is doing its job. You will be happy with the camera.

I recorded the sound of my Q when I turn it on and off. I turn it on and off two times. Does yours sound like that?

Great idea. Over the last couple years various folks have wondered and worried about this noise. Your recording can be a reference for people going forward. Good job!
