Richardgb Posted May 7, 2018 Share #1 Posted May 7, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just thought I'd share this shot of how the Super-Elmar-M 18/3.8 resists flare artefacts. I am pleased with the way the lens coped with flare. The only spots are 1) a small green one just to the right of the artist's nose, and 2) a larger faint one in the mauve area below her right elbow, and there are a few faint streaks radiating out from the sun across the top of the image and to the right of 'spot 2'. Nothing distracting, however, and it's certainly more comfortable looking at the image than it was squinting into the Sun. You can also see I was using a bit of fill-in flash, though nothing more can be retrieved in the the over-exposed area around the Sun or the artist's upper back. Welcome, dear visitor! Simon Posted May 7, 2018 Share #2 Posted May 7, 2018 That’s pretty impressive! An under-appreciated lens I feel. Nice shot.
lct Posted May 7, 2018 Share #3 Posted May 7, 2018 How does it look when you put the sun just outside the frame? Just curious.
Gregm61 Posted May 7, 2018 Share #4 Posted May 7, 2018 Pretty darn well. It's about as flare-proof as any lens I have used, which is to say it's most likely not perfect, but most of the time the results are generally in this range..no profound images here. Just testing specifically for how mine performed under those exact lighting conditions.
