Neil,

From page 32 of the manual: (see link in a previous post)

---

Printing from other programs into Image

Print’s Spooler In addition to printing directly from the main ImagePrint interface, or using hot folders via AutoPrint, ImagePrint also allows you to print directly from virtually any other application, including Photoshop and InDesign. If the application can utilize the Windows Spooler or Macintosh Print Center, then it can print to the ImagePrint spooler with PTA. With PTA, you can choose your ImagePrint printer from the list of printers in your application’s print dialog box, just like any printer. Clicking Print will cause the job to be printed via the ImagePrint spooler, utilizing ImagePrint’s color management and high quality printer control.

Cheers Ian

One should be able to use Photoshop or any other application as far as I know. I like LR not just for editing, but for organizing my pics, so IP is just one simple transition. I always print from IP.

IP customer service can help with specific technical concerns.

I used to use Lightroom, then Lightroom CC came along so I tried that but didn't get on with it. I then tried Bridge and fell in love with that so I have skipped LR altogether .......saying all that my thousands of pictures are everywhere and a nightmare to find, I really need to take care of that part of my photography

LR Classic CC retains all the features and interface of the old LR. One needn’t use the new CC or ‘the cloud’.... I don’t, and would dump LR if cloud storage were ever required. I rarely use Photoshop anymore.

One can organize pics in many ways, using various software. LR works for me; others seem confused, but I bet they haven’t used the KISS approach to LR. But whatever you use, you best not wait. The longer you take, the worse the nightmare.

I keep two separate backups of all print files on 2 separate external 2TB hard drives. Just in case one gives up. Storage is dirt cheap these days ,you just have to discipline yourself to do it.The alternative is chaos.

Brian I have 18TB 3 x 6 TB drives in my 2012 Mac Pro so have tones of storage. My problem is I don’t have a work flow between my laptop and my desktop in phuket and desktop in KL so I have folders of images everywhere some in drive A some in C some in an external drive some in the laptop just a mess. I even tried saving half in Dropbox and half in the cloud but that was also a nightmare to manage......... still looking for options on how to manage my files

Neil the though of how to sort that out gives me a headache. I am setting up a network at home to enable me to print using my desktop or my MacBook. By being on a network print jobs from either computer are roughted through IP. Your problem is a lot more complicated between 2differant countries assuming you wanted to network them..

Seems like I am now getting a divorce after 20 years of marriage ..................among other things this will defiantly help with the picture management as I will be back in KL 100% of the time..........it will also give me an incentive to get all my pictures sorted out during the long lonely days and nights :( :( :(

Hi Neil

Hope you are not serious about your divorce. If you want to put me up for a few weeks I will come and sort your library.

In the meantime I would ignore the chaos and start storing your files in an organised way. Each time you go out and take some pics, the first thing to do is back them up on an external drive. First put them in a folder and give it a name say :Naked women jan1 2018.

Each time you take pics do the same. Just give it a title that has some meaning to you , not today’s pics eg.

At the end of the month just create a new folder with all the days in the month when you have created a folder and call in January,s pics or whatever. Do this ever time you take pictures,it soon becomes a habit. I would always use external drives as they are easily transportable. When you decide to sort out the others it will be a great time to have a major sort out.

What works for me won’t necessarily work for someone else or you. You just need an easy system that works for you. Our American friends have a great principle , KISS. Keep it simple stupid. Not sudgesting you are in anyway stupid,it is just the saying.

One never knows whether to celebrate or commiserate with an announcement of divorce.

Change can be good. Chin up, Neil.

Been there - done that.  In 1984 my wife of 23 years asked for a divorce.  Absolute worst time of my life, but I survived and now have been married to the love of my life for 31 years.  So in retrospect my ex-wife did me a favor.  Hang in there.

What you need is some serious retail therapy.

How about getting the ball rolling with a Phase 10 camera and a few lenses. For a retirement gift to yourself let’s go for a nice Porche

some new clothes as you are going to loose some weight. All you need now is a box of viagra and the right company.

If you don,t survive it you will at least go with a smile on your face. I intend to go the boring way “ to be shot dead by a jealous husband”.

  • 4 weeks later...

I'm trying imageprint and get a strange errors on "missing usb donkeys".  Probably it's about software protection.

How it (license management and software protection) of the both versions of Imageprint is arranged?

Is is possible to avoid need for special hardware?

I think you are misreading this. Is it not USB Dongle. For a trial you do not need the dongle but I believe that a watermark is on any print you make. The dongle makes your copy “ the software and the dongle” unique to yourself and is really to stop people ripping the software and obtaining a free copy. Edited by Guest

Isn't the Dongle is a "key" for a company to control its software usage? Software wont work without the special key. It is installed between the printer cable and the computer. Not sure in the case of wireless?

At least that's how it was explained to me.

Unlikely to be installed between the printer and computer. Just sits in a usb socket and provides identification of the computer to the software.
