Leica M Film Photos -- Feel Free to Share Yours

An 'unscientific experiment'.... two shots of people playing outside volleyball. Admitted, different angles and even a different day. The first shot was from a Digital Ricoh GR 28mm, while the second shot with the benches in the foreground was with my Film Leica M6 / 28mm lens (so digital vs analog).

When I shoot my Ricoh, I try to make the images appear 'film', even though digital. But when looking at the two shots, the real Leica Film (400 TriX) has more grain, better contrast...just more character overall. So certainly not a definitive experiment, but an interesting comparison of the digital / analog world.

As close as I'll get to a tattoo. I took some with an M6 using a 35mm Summicron and Tri-X 400 but the images were overexposed and/or over developed. I'm too new at the entire process to pinpoint. I'll post those in the root M forum in a bit.

Decided to share the M6 photo here. It's been edited in Photoshop, trying to dial back the highlights. I was relying on the internal meter, which considering how much light was bouncing off the subject, I maybe should have made some manual adjustments. Next time, I'll use the handheld meter for comparison.

Hello,

I think that if many highlights were present your frame should have been under-exposed and not the opposite. Looks like you have quite a bit of details in the highlight too. Maybe you could check the negative first then review the scanning method? (Just an idea).

I never tried an m6 so I do not know how it meters...

Hope this helps.

Incident light metering is much better in situation where you have dark subject under bright light, like the men in dark shirt in your photo or my black cat in this photo.

I always wonder how many hands have opened that old iron gate that leads to the bridge!

Mine too have helped to polish the metal over the years!
