Interesting photo, Arnaud.  Are waters in the canal always so choppy?

Ray,

What we see here is the water movement of filling the sluice, gate closed at left a couple of meters.

In the next picture (in fact taken some minutes before the former), we can see the gates and departing smaller boats

First go at scanning, used a Nikon coolscan V .... never knew there could be so many settings in Vuescan! More homework to do on this!!

Great shot! love the composition and colors! There's just a bit more grain in the sky than I'd like (not that that matters!). Wondering whether that's really noise or grain, and, if noise, whether it could be reduced in post.

Thanks for the kind comment and feedback.  Agree, zooming in there is an awful lot of grain!  It came in quite dark from the scan (vs preview)  and so went a bit wild in Capture One with various sliders. So now I have a fave out of my first film back today will first work on improving my scanning settings (which were a bit random) by doing some web searches on Coolscan/Vuescan & colour negatives. Loving having a film camera back in hand!
