Grab shot taken on a hike while crossing one bridge when it started to rain. Looked towards the next bridge and saw this as the shell was coming into position. M5, Nokton 50 1.5 ltm. Cropped to about a 90mm FOV. Ektar, commercial process and scan.

Just a JPG enhanced scan, 3583x2376 24 bit depth in the original file - of course cropped and reduced file size a couple times to get below 500k from the original 7 MB file. I don't recall which lab I used - could have been The Darkroom, Dwaynes, or Precision Camera (in Austin)

In this photo, I try to read the signs:

 

On the yellow sign with part hidden by the white lamp, first I read "Tofu drink/Juice" (น้ำเต้าหู้) and under that "For elimination" text in thai (เพี่อสุขา).

 

But looking better and try to read the hidden part I can bet the whole text as " For Health" (เพี่อสุขภาพ).

 

I feel better now .

Incredible details as one can read with clarity the brand of the bike on the frame underthe white wire

We were driving a VW beetle in the Karamoja district of Uganda in 1965, towards Moroto. Half an hour earlier, going round a bend, we saw a group of Karamojong men on a small hill next to the road. When they saw me they threw down their long spears and ran off — the Karamojong were forbidden to carry spears and they probably thought I was a District Officer: there were no tourists in this area then. We then came upon this small group of Karamojong women resting in the shade. We stopped but could not communicate with them, as they did not speak "up-country Kiswahili", which was the lingua franca of Uganda. The Karamojong are an ethnic group related to the Turkana in Kenya. 

 

I shot this with the  Leica IIIc with the Summitar 50 lens and the film was Kodachrome II. It must have been about 2pm and the light was very bright, so that the slide had some blown highlights. This roll was in a shipping container with our belongings that spent, through mishaps, six months at the port of Mombasa, including a season of the "long rains". When I scanned it, it had turned into what looks like a monochrome of cyan — yes, Kodachrome can also go bad in extreme heat and humidity — and to get the look of the dry-season grass necessitated an enormous addition of yellow in the white balance. I’ve posted another version some time ago, but reprocessed this one to get more of the color that I remembered.

This one was taken by M4-2 and Summarit-M 35 2.5 while I hold them above my head looking through the fence. They knew what to take then  .

It is on 5x7 darkroom print now.

Taken in Geneva, Switzerland on Kodachrome 64 in 1974 with a Leica CL and Summicron-C 40mm. We were staying next to a school/kindergarten and the kids decided to have some fun.
