fiddlefye Posted April 25, 2018 Share #1 Posted April 25, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just got my new-to-me SL back from being serviced. Cosmetics are lovely, everything works perfectly and as smooth as butter, but when time came for the battery conversion it turned out the meter cell is almost dead. I'm loading a roll of Ilford Delta 100 and will pull out one of my meters, but is there anywhere a source for the meter cells? I certainly can still use the camera, but having the TTL metering would sure be handier.
Advertisement Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 Hi fiddlefye, Take a look here SL CDS meter cell is dead. Any chance of finding a replacement?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
TomB_tx Posted April 25, 2018 Share #2 Posted April 25, 2018 A few years ago DAG replaced the cell in my SL, but I believe he said he did not sell the cell as a part, but would replace during a service.
Michael Geschlecht Posted April 25, 2018 Share #3 Posted April 25, 2018 Hello Fiddlefye, Welcome to the Forum. There is a place not too far from you called "Kindermann". You might ask them. Best Regards, Michael
fiddlefye Posted April 25, 2018 Author Share #4 Posted April 25, 2018 I just called Sherry Krauter and asked her if she would sell me the part. She said she would check her stocks and call me back. If she still has a reasonable number remaining she will ship me one. My tech locally is more than capable of installing it and getting it calibrated. I'm sure Sherry is busy enough she perhaps doesn't desperately need another SL passing through the doors at this point.

Best Regards, Michael Good idea. On my list to call tomorrow, but I don't think there part stock is all that great for the older cameras at this point.
fiddlefye Posted April 26, 2018 Author Share #6 Posted April 26, 2018 My roll of Delta 100 morphed into Ektar 100 when I noted the daffodils blooming so nicely in the yard.
fiddlefye Posted April 28, 2018 Author Share #7 Posted April 28, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) So I seem to have exhausted the possibilities for getting a new cell apart from sending the camera to someone for a complete overhaul which it doesn't at all need. I guess now to find someone with a SL with a good later-version cell but otherwise not worth repairing.
fiddlefye Posted July 11, 2018 Author Share #8 Posted July 11, 2018 So I got a used cell from later in the production run (mine had the original design), it is installed and working great. It did take a bit of padding down the circuit with a couple of diodes to get it in the right range as the new module had a lot greater output than the original design. In other news - the prism for my SL-2 has been resilvered and is on its way back to me. Yay!
