SL CDS meter cell is dead. Any chance of finding a replacement?

I just got my new-to-me SL back from being serviced. Cosmetics are lovely, everything works perfectly and as smooth as butter, but when time came for the battery conversion it turned out the meter cell is almost dead. I'm loading a roll of Ilford Delta 100 and will pull out one of my meters, but is there anywhere a source for the meter cells? I certainly can still use the camera, but having the TTL metering would sure be handier.

I just called Sherry Krauter and asked her if she would sell me the part. She said she would check her stocks and call me back. If she still has a reasonable number remaining she will ship me one. My tech locally is more than capable of installing it and getting it calibrated. I'm sure Sherry is busy enough she perhaps doesn't desperately need another SL passing through the doors at this point.

Hello Fiddlefye,

Welcome to the Forum.

There is a place not too far from you called "Kindermann". You might ask them.

Best Regards,

Michael

Good idea. On my list to call tomorrow, but I don't think there part stock is all that great for the older cameras at this point.

So I seem to have exhausted the possibilities for getting a new cell apart from sending the camera to someone for a complete overhaul which it doesn't at all need. I guess now to find someone with a SL with a good later-version cell but otherwise not worth repairing.

So I got a used cell from later in the production run (mine had the original design), it is installed and working great. It did take a bit of padding down the circuit with a couple of diodes to get it in the right range as the new module had a lot greater output than the original design.

In other news - the prism for my SL-2 has been resilvered and is on its way back to me. Yay!
