Leica M4 with unknown serial number

Hello, I purchased a Leica M4 a year or so ago and noticed at the time that I could not locate the serial number. I thought someone might be able to help assure me that what I have is genuine. The serial number is M4 - 1082762 it has the Leica DBP engravinf with ERNST LEITZ GMBH WETZLAR GERMANY below it. Everything appears to be genuine except for be fact I can not locate the serial number online.
