Sensor problems with a V-Lux 40

I've been using a V-Lux 40 for the past couple of years and as you'd expect, most of the time the camera works perfectly and produces great images. But three times now I've had to take it back to Leica in London to have the sensor cleaned because bits of dust have appeared on the sensor and on my photos.

I asked the people at the Bruton Place store why this should keep happening on a camera with the build quality of a Leica and was told: "Well when you use the zoom, you're effectively sucking air into the camera and that can cause these kind of problems..." I just don't buy this explanation - every compact camera with a zoom works in similar ways - I've had Sonys, Panasonic Lumixes, Canon G5X and never had these kind of problems with any other make.

Anyone got any suggestions why this should keep happening? I'm getting really frustrated by having to make constant trips to have the problem sorted.

Cheers,
