Mine was delivered today - Build quality - Solid - (More solid and robust feeling than my Summicron 50/2 V5 and similar to my VM 35/1.7). Smooth well damped focus and no aperture ring looseness that Emulsive noted.

From an esthetical point of view it’s not mother’s most beautiful baby.

For my taste it is!

Looks much better than Leica Summicron 35mm and Zeiss Biogon lenses too ...

PS: Simpy ignore thes chinese letters :D

Well, my copy has arrived. First impressions are of a solid little lens, quite well finished, if just marginally 'chunky' relative to a Summicron. I think that my first tests are going to have to be well thought out in order to manage expectations from a relatively cheap newcomer. Will post further when I've got something to say.

Hamish send me one for testing. Unfortunately I have lot of work these days, so only some shots.

The built quality is very good. But only 1EV klick is a little bit strange? It's coded to be a summicron 35mm.

What I don't like is the bokeh, it is very harsh.

My friend Elmar will test it with his Sony and soon post something on our blog.

OK so not getting enough time to shoot this lens as much as I'd hoped but here's one at about f/11. I'll reserve judgement until I have shot a lot more but it certainly can deliver well stopped down, in the right circumstances and in bright light, although this isn't a particularly sever test of may lenses to be fair. (filter/no hood). [uploaded Image : 1200x800 pixels @ 72ppi]

What a delightful comment. Thank you so much for that wonderful, insightful, and intelligent contribution of such epic proportions. I look forward to reading more with eager anticipation.

meh, they aren't overpriced. some people just can't afford them.

Thanks. An important area missing from the comparison is an assessment of corner performance, which is the weakest point of the 7a 50/1.1 IMO.

I'd be happy to contribute, but my copy is still on its way from China.
