_sticky_ Posted April 10, 2018 Share #1 Posted April 10, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) So this is the second time my Zoom has got stuck on a job leaving me with essentially a prime fixed at whichever focal length it gets wedged at. I've managed you get it unstuck by manually pulling the Zoom out pulling the hood. I will be going into Leica store to see if this can be sorted out. Has anyone had or heard of this issue at all? bherman01545 Posted April 10, 2018 Share #4 Posted April 10, 2018 I recall reading an article some time ago about a long-term review of the SL with the 24-90 Vario Elmarit Zoom where the author also had mentioned that while on a trip, the zooming mechanism also locked up at 90mm, and she had to send the lens in for repair, but I can't find the article at this time.

bsmith Posted April 10, 2018 Share #8 Posted April 10, 2018 I also had two copies of the 24-90 lock up. Both times it was after a long airplane ride. There are internal screws that back out from vibration apparently. It needs to go into repair, but you can unlock it by gently wiggling the front of the lens. bsmith Posted April 12, 2018 Share #11 Posted April 12, 2018 Yes, my Dealer, exchanged the first one so I didn't have to wait for repair, but a 4 hour flight to the west coast cause the 2nd brand new lens to vibrate the screws loose and lock up the zoom. I have carried both SL zooms on (far too many) airplanes, without problems. I do hope and thrust this will continue - but I now understand that things may happen.
