paul chiu Posted April 5, 2018 Share #1 Posted April 5, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello fellow Leica users, I read yesterday the Leica M and lenses will have a significant pricing increase come May, so I am thinking of adding the Leica M10 to my bag. For those who have or experienced with both M240 and M10: 1. Do they use the same battery? 2. Are the sensors easier to clean on the M10? 3. How much more weather sealed is the M10? Any issues after a rain storm or beach visit? Thanks!!!! Paul

a.noctilux Posted April 5, 2018 Share #2 Posted April 5, 2018 1 - not same battery M240 family has bigger battery than M10, some threads for battery lifes that you can read 2 - sensor cleaning is as hard/easy with each one 3 - M10 is not more weather sealed than previous M As side note, I use M10 for more than one year now and M240/262 longer than that (I keep them all ), if you can afford M10, go for it if not M240/262 are bargain if second hand buy because people trade them for M10 In files/photos results, same subject/lens same ISO to 3200, I can't see differences with M10/240/262
Tailwagger Posted April 5, 2018 Share #3 Posted April 5, 2018 Fully agree with a.noctilux, with the slight exception that the color balance of the 240 is a bit different, the reds being a bit more saturated. Generally easy to deal with in post.
Jeff S Posted April 5, 2018 Share #4 Posted April 5, 2018 3 - M10 is not more weather sealed than previous M Wrong. Now sealed around entire edge of base plate. No holes on top for EVF plug-in or microphone. No holes for protectors above strap lugs. Etc, This has been covered in ads and many reviews, and was one of my reasons for upgrade. The M10 is a better built and more robust machine than the M240, even though the M240 had better weather sealing and build quality than its predecessors. rafael_macia Posted April 6, 2018 Share #5 Posted April 6, 2018 The price increase will be substantial on M10/Lenses. The SL will be unaffected. (take my word for it ....)

blacksinner Posted April 6, 2018 Share #8 Posted April 6, 2018 go for m9 and buy some leica lenses. m9 is excellent enough. i love m9 and m10 equally. lenses is the most important thing. buy 35mm fle if you 35mm person. its value increase rapidly.
microview Posted April 6, 2018 Share #9 Posted April 6, 2018 Sensor replacement for M9 no longer free – something to bear in mind. I don't miss the M9 colour palette, now having the M10 myself.
