As a Leica User since Leica M8, I felt Leica has lost its soul during the M240. I do not often write camera reviews but i felt its my obligation to write down my personal feelings and opinions about the M10, which brought back my passion and love for Leica once again.

The Leica M10 is an evolutionary camera for long time Leica users. It is getting back to basics shooting with similar style to Leica film cameras with integration of modern technology. The Leica M9 was the landmark for Leica’s transition into digital photography and it was so intuitive to use like all Leica film cameras. However, with the introduction of the Leica M Typ240 as a revolutionary approach to fully embrace photography technology, it felt like Leica has lost its soul and essence during the process. The Leica M Typ240 with those extra technological features was an interference to pure shooting and the camera became inconvenient to carry, as it feels bulky and heavy compared to all previous Leica M. The Leica M10 improves on the practicality and physical aspects of the Leica M Typ240 significantly.

In your review, only seen photos of M10 set on Auto ISO.

 

Just curious...

Have you set that Auto ISO as your standard use ?

 

No focus shift with M-Hexanon 1.2 ?

Hi, I usually leave it at Auto ISO for most situations but under tricky or bad lighting conditions that I switch it to manual. As I found its reliable about 80-90% at times.

 

Good question, there is focus shift on my copy so I use live view to compensate but I heard some good copies can be without this issue.

Yes I am fluentent in both Chinese and English. It seems you are located in Sydney as well?

 

To tell you the truth, it was a surreal and nervous experience for everyone since I am the first and only person ordered the 75mm Noctilux awhile back.

I have never used an M9 or an M10 and have never seen either one in person.  I did own/use an M240 which I upgraded to an M-P 240.   With that in mind, I cannot find much at all to disagree with in the review.

 

I am working on acquiring an M10-P.  I will keep my M-P 240 and it will be my backup digital M.  I like my M-P 240; it's a good camera.  It's not "perfect" (whatever that means) but no camera is perfect. 

 

Perhaps the M 240 platform tried to be everything to everyone and was a little too ambitious in the process.  That doesn't mean it is only fit to be tossed in the nearest dumpster, though. 

 

I still find my M-P 240 to be a very capable and usable camera, even if it is 3mm (0.2 in.) "too fat."
