jc_braconi Posted March 19, 2018 Share #1 Posted March 19, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, Yesterday I start updating the list of my lenses looking for lots and number issued using the Thiele book, I found some mismatching or lens that are in non attributed lots. here are the exemples : a 324 8xx Elmar 4/90 black is in a lot attributed to Summar a 353 2xx Elmar 3.5/50 is in a lot attributed also to Summar a 1 181 3xx Summaron 3.5/35 2nd version is in a lot with no attribution. On a sample of 483 Hektor which I found and could identify Sn without any doubts (based on published photos) there were 17 lenses outside of the lots listed as Hektor in Thiele book. I contacted him in early stage of my research (having just few samples outside his lots). Thiele made assumption that Leitz assigned lots rounded to hundreds/thousands which in reality, especially with early lenses was not necessarily the case. Title of the book may suggest that this is based on factory however in the Introducion (preface) he explains that this is based on his research in web, auction houses and feedback from collectors. 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
