Summicron 35 ASPH doesn't focus at infinity?

Hey guys, I've recently acquired a lens that doesn't seem to focus properly at infinity. When you turn the focusing tab all the way to infinity pictures are coming out not completely sharp. I've checked it with LV and it reaches infinity just shy 2mm before lens marking. Is that normal?

That’s normal in some lenses. Sometimes the stop is worn.

What about having other lenses mounted on the camera then? Will they focus well on it? I've calibrated RF myself to perfectly fit summicron but I'm afraid that when I will get more lenses for it focus will be knackered

At your own risk, I may say.

Calibrating the M Leica RF is something required some sophisticated hardware and some technical background.

Everyone can play with hex 2mm and full moon or far away pole,  but...

As you have done it now two choices :

- leave it as is now and when you receive your second lens look if the calibrating is correct also for the latter

- if the calibrating is off, send the camera to be calibrated at Leica

Even by then, when the camera calibrated by Leica come back, your lenses can be off also.

Why the best thing with older lenses is to send them for calibrating to have peace of mind.

The only way to find out is mount another lens.

Thanks guys, I've got another idea how to "fix" the lens but it's pretty barbaric considering beauty of Leica lenses. I would like to avoid sending it to Germany since that could cost me a pretty penny - it would be my last bastion of defence. I think I will pay a visit to Richard Caplan tomorrow, test a few lenses and then try to understand what's going on.

BTW. I have 7artisans 50/1.1 but since it's user adjustable it's not a great reference point I think.
