woutdezeeuw Posted March 13, 2018 Share #1 Posted March 13, 2018 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Can anybody recommend a reputable repair shop near Eindhoven, the Netherlands? I just bought a used M9, but I've just tested it, and the rangefinder alignment is off by 50cm or so (rear focuses). Thank you! - Wout Edited March 13, 2018 by woutdezeeuw

A search will find them (I’m on a mobile phone or I would do it)
woutdezeeuw Posted March 13, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted March 13, 2018 Well, I'd need a special tool as I understand it, plus I have little confidence that I won't screw this up. I did a quick scan on youtube, if there were a video showing how I'd perhaps feel more confident trying it myself. I've contacted Will van Manen for now, I sadly will have to part with it for a month or so.
jaapv Posted March 13, 2018 Share #4 Posted March 13, 2018 The special tool is a 2mm hex key. (inbussleutel), 1.50 € at your local hardware shop. The one for vertical adjustment a ground-down cheap 2 mm screwdriver. (Another €)
woutdezeeuw Posted March 13, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted March 13, 2018 Jaap, I see you're mentioning 3 adjustment points here: https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/109287-diy-rangefinder-adjustment/. What are the chances I'd have to deal with that?
jaapv Posted March 13, 2018 Share #6 Posted March 13, 2018 Slim. Chances are that you will only have to adjust the roller wheel with the hex key. 5-10 minutes even for somebody doing it for the first time. If the vertical is off it is a bit more elaborate but still quite doable in DIY. The third point is a don't touch.

It takes more than 5-10 minutes even to adjust just close-up, especially on the M9 without live view. 50cm is quite a lot to be out by I've adjusted mine a few times but it was only out by 1cm ish at about 3m-4m. Its not a difficult job just a bit fiddly with a lot of trial and error. good luck
woutdezeeuw Posted March 14, 2018 Author Share #8 Posted March 14, 2018 (edited) By the way, looking on the Leica web site I see zero information on getting your rangefinder adjusted and what it costs. I kinda would have expected there to be a price list/online shop for common service items. Edited March 14, 2018 by woutdezeeuw
jaapv Posted March 15, 2018 Share #9 Posted March 15, 2018 I would never send it to Leica for just a rangefinder adjustment. Will van Manen (http://www.kamera-service.info/index.php/nl/) is cheaper and faster.
