Advertisement Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Hi Leica Fanatic, Take a look here M11 Where To From Here? [merged thread]. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
mikemgb Posted January 19, 2017 Share #2 Posted January 19, 2017 I heard they're actually designing a digital back for the M-A to really get back to the basics.

Leica Fanatic Posted January 19, 2017 Author Share #4 Posted January 19, 2017 (edited) I think the M11 should be the world's first truly ala carte camera system - have it built the way you want it. Here's my order: - M-Mount (obviously). A body the same size as the CL. Viewfinder from the M3. Front mounted shutter dial from the CL, or the oversized one on top from the M5. The viewfinder meter needle from the CL. Black & White sensor from the 1st Monochrom. Screenless back with ISO dial, like the MD. A battery that gives a 1000 shots on a single charge, like my old Canon 350d. A charger powered from USB. Orthodox strap eyelets like most cameras but on the right side only, like the CL/M5. A manual shutter cocking mechanism / lever (the all metal one, not that floppy plastic thing). Brass top and bottom plates. Black paint. No bloody red dot. Costs no more than 3K. Simultaneously released 35mm f/1.4 and 50mm f/1.2 Summicrons, priced to compete with CV glass. The world's most devastating street camera. Right, where do I enter my payment details? mikemgb Posted January 19, 2017 Share #6 Posted January 19, 2017 USB charging would be right up there on my list too, I generally travel with three different cameras using three different chargers. It would be a serious pain if I hadn't bought a universal charger last year.

mikemgb Posted January 19, 2017 Share #9 Posted January 19, 2017 I imagine you need an extra bag just for the chargers and leads? Sadly, yes, I have a separate compartmented case for chargers, cables, WD backup drive, etc. that fits nicely in the end of my carry-on. Denys Posted January 19, 2017 Share #10 Posted January 19, 2017 The body needs to be thicker..I find my M10 far too thin (almost as 'bad' as the film Ms)...

mikemgb Posted January 19, 2017 Share #12 Posted January 19, 2017 Could you tell us about this or post a link to it please https://www.amazon.com/DigiPower-TC-U450-Universal-Battery-Charger/dp/B009JXZS8S Not recommended for constant use as some feel it doesn't have the correct control circuits to fully protect your battery, but I have used it on several trips and find it very handy. jmahto Posted January 19, 2017 Share #13 Posted January 19, 2017 I am not convinced of universal chargers wrt protecting battery. They are good for emergency (and I have one in my bag) in case your camera supplied charger breaks down.
mjh Posted January 20, 2017 Share #14 Posted January 20, 2017 USB charging would be right up there on my list too That would be difficult without USB (and I think that’s gone for good). What about wireless charging?
mikemgb Posted January 20, 2017 Share #15 Posted January 20, 2017 That would be difficult without USB (and I think that’s gone for good). What about wireless charging? Wireless charging is very slow and you need space in the device for the induction coil, you'd lose that 3.5 mm you just gained.
xixi_gelly Posted January 20, 2017 Share #16 Posted January 20, 2017 My prediction is a hybrid EVF/OVF viewfinder will be the "clamored-for" feature the next generation just as "thin" was this. And I think they'll deliver.

A hybrid viewfinder has been clamoured for for years. That doesn’t mean it’s a realistic proposition.
