M11 Where To From Here? [merged thread]

I think the M11 should be the world's first truly ala carte camera system - have it built the way you want it.

Here's my order: -

M-Mount (obviously).

A body the same size as the CL.

Viewfinder from the M3.

Front mounted shutter dial from the CL, or the oversized one on top from the M5.

The viewfinder meter needle from the CL.

Black & White sensor from the 1st Monochrom.

Screenless back with ISO dial, like the MD.

A battery that gives a 1000 shots on a single charge, like my old Canon 350d.

A charger powered from USB.

Orthodox strap eyelets like most cameras but on the right side only, like the CL/M5.

A manual shutter cocking mechanism / lever (the all metal one, not that floppy plastic thing).

Brass top and bottom plates.

Black paint.

No bloody red dot.

Costs no more than 3K.

Simultaneously released 35mm f/1.4 and 50mm f/1.2 Summicrons, priced to compete with CV glass.

The world's most devastating street camera.

Right, where do I enter my payment details? :(

USB charging would be right up there on my list too, I generally travel with three different cameras using three different chargers. It would be a serious pain if I hadn't bought a universal charger last year.

I imagine you need an extra bag just for the chargers and leads?

Not recommended for constant use as some feel it doesn't have the correct control circuits to fully protect your battery, but I have used it on several trips and find it very handy.

My prediction is a hybrid EVF/OVF viewfinder will be the "clamored-for" feature the next generation just as "thin" was this.

A hybrid viewfinder has been clamoured for for years. That doesn’t mean it’s a realistic proposition.
