What insect is this?

When inspecting flowers that just opened this morning, I noticed - and portrayed - quite a big insect, vaguely resembling a bee. Is there anyone ready to help me naming it?

I fully agree! Here is another (bad) image taken last summer, of a seemingly igual insect found floating on my swimming pool.
