Torres del Paine National Park, Chile

There are about 3000 of these wild but gentle cousins to the Llama (and Camel) that roam freely here.

Difficult to get close though, they don't bolt, but rather slowly move in response to your slow movements while continuing to graze.

Hello Wally,

Nice photo.

Are guanacos the size of a sheep or the size of a cow, or perhaps somewhere in between?

Best Regards,

Michael

Hi Michael. Thank you. They are much taller than sheep, quite tall actually, closer to the height of a horse.

Very nice.  I have a very similar photo in nearly the same place.

Beautiful photo of a great scenary!

Beautiful and serene.

Is their wool being collected ? (Like Vicunias?)

Thanks all for looking and comments.  This wool is prized but not as fine as the Vicuna, The animals here are wild and protected so are not shorn.
