How many guys are using the Colour Checker Passport or similar

Yesterday I bought the Xright Colour Checker passport and tried it with this picture;

After creating a DNG profile and saving that in PScc I imported the above picture and while in ACR I switched between the Hasselblad H6D profile that I created and the ACR embedded profile, I was amazed at the difference between the two profiles.

Today I am shooting a Chinese model at a Chinese Temple so its going to be Red on Red so it will be interesting to see how the Colour Checker Passport handles that scenario.

The next time I take my Leica S out for a shoot I will also make a profile for that camera to.

Anyone else using this piece of kit

Since the digital stone age. To me it is a basic tool, I would not be without it.

BTW, you don't have to run through PS to create a profile. Just drag the DNG off the card onto the Colorchecker. window. It will insert the profile automatically into PS.

Jaap it fits in nicely to my new workflow;

  1. Import pictures into Phocus
  2. Make any initial adjustments in Phocus (White balance, exposure etc etc)
  3. Export all the pictures as DNG files and automatically open them in Bridge
  4. Send the file with the colour checker picture in it to the Colour Checker program and create a profile for the camera and location of that shoot
  5. From Bridge I pick the ones I want to keep and open them individually into PScc (ACR) and use that new profile while the picture is in ACR
  6. I then open the picture in PScc and make any last adjustments, then post them to my website

This is my new workflow and it works good for me

For all my digital cameras since beginning....except the Monochrom.

BTW, there are threads on the topic at the other forums you now frequent.

Jeff

I know I started one there
