wlaidlaw Posted July 15, 2007 Share #163 Posted July 15, 2007 The file that I uploaded was around 400kB. Can anyone explain to me how the files got compacted to 56kB? Does anyone elses file size change like this when they upload files to the website? ......strange Rex Rex, No but 400kb is too big - look at the manage attachments import dialog box and it will give you the maximum size of each type of file. My work flow to post is as follows - all in Photoshop: 1) Convert file from 16 to 8 bit TIFF (Image - Mode) 2) Resize so that max dimension is 950 pixels 3) Save As JPEG 4) Adjust compression so that it is a bit less than 200KB Hope this helps Wilson Welcome, dear visitor! Jack_Flesher Posted July 15, 2007 Share #164 Posted July 15, 2007 Is this good Bokeh? I'll with-hold camera and lens used for the time being, but will tell you it was hand-held, in poor light at f2 and shot through the store window with a digital camera. Cheers, Jack
Guest malland Posted July 15, 2007 Share #165 Posted July 15, 2007 Jack: It's good bokeh if you like it; but I must say that I don't at all, as I like o-o-f areas in which you can see the original shape. I like the following bokeh, in a picture taken with the Summilux-50 (pre-ASPH): —Mitch/Potomac, MD http://www.flickr.com/photos/10268776@N00/

Jack_Flesher Posted July 15, 2007 Share #167 Posted July 15, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Guy: IMO your shot and mine look VERY similar in oof renderings -- even the specular highlights! Another hint on my lens -- it was NOT fully open!
losta Posted July 17, 2007 Share #168 Posted July 17, 2007 Lightpainter....What a lovely portrait of your nephew! Really striking! yet another interesting thread started by Guy; don't have the time to read it all, but would like to contribute my point of view and my favourite pic with my Nocti made in Canada (the one with the detachable hood) ; I own both the 50 lux asph and the Nocti, and it's quite simple: if I open more than 2.8, I go for the lux if I want it as sharp as it can get, and I take out my Nocti if I want that "dreamlike" look which I like in this portrait of my nephew Sean (M8, Noctilux 1.0):

Lisa and Tom: thank you very much for your kind responses; this portrait is one my favourite pictures of last year, and I'm happy you like it too. egibaud Posted July 18, 2007 Share #170 Posted July 18, 2007 I just received a new coded Noctilux from Leica Dealer Nicolas Muro in France. I used it with UV/IR filter at ISO320 and 1.4 aperture.
