Advertisement Posted June 20, 2023 Posted June 20, 2023 Hi BJohn, Take a look here 35mm 1.4 FLE v. 28mm 1.4 – Which one?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
RexGig0 Posted June 20, 2023 Share #62 Posted June 20, 2023 I love the ergonomics of the FLE, but, not always its images. Plenty of “character,” of course. The pre-ASPH 35mm Summiluxes are a bit small, the FLE is “just right,” and, well, the long Zeiss Distagon 35mm f/1.4 ZM is the “fast” 35 that I actually own and use. (I favor the Summilux-M 50mm ASPH and the APO Summicron-M 75mm ASPH, which are hefty M lenses, so, the Zeiss Distagon actually does not seem so large or heavy.) I did very nearly buy a v. 2 Summilux-M 35mm pre-ASPH, that I tried, last week, at a local camera store, comparing it with their demonstrator FLE, and my Distagon. While I “slept on it,” another buyer acted. I might have acted more quickly, but, I keep telling myself that I am a “50mm shooter,” and, wanted to try a pre-ASPH 50mm Summilux that I saw at the same store. I understand the love/hate relationship, I too have sold my used one... and bought it again brand new a year later. For that extra crispy feel, it is - along with the 50 lux ASPH - my go-to lens. Shitty bokeh, but an instantly recognizable character and it almost never fails to amaze. Welcome, dear visitor! Apart from the lady being replaced by a drunk dood with far too much body hair floating in an inner tube trailing empty beer cans.

One must bring her along. My girlfriend, in 1996-1997, looked that good, and liked to wear the same outfit, while outdoors. “Feeling the breeze,” as she would say. I was not yet, however, a photographer, though she was, and had we stayed together, I might have become serious about photography 20+ years sooner. Perhaps I would have bought a Summilux-M 35mm, Version II, from a photographer upgrading to the then-extant first Summilux-M 35mm ASPH. Had I been the subject, a 28mm or even 21mm would be required, and the end result would not have been as attractive ...
