chris_tribble Posted January 25, 2018 Share #4 Posted January 25, 2018 Thanks - agreed it's very sweet, but, like you not enough spare kidneys. The good news for me is that the 75 Summicron f2.4 is such a useful and under-rated little gem. Many features to like and affordable! Welcome, dear visitor! Keith (M) Posted January 26, 2018 Share #5 Posted January 26, 2018 Thanks - agreed it's very sweet, but, like you not enough spare kidneys. The good news for me is that the 75 Summicron f2.4 is such a useful and under-rated little gem. Many features to like and affordable! "Summicron f2.4"?? Presumably Summarit? (I have the earlier f2.5 and it is indeed an under-rated gem as you say).
anickpick Posted January 26, 2018 Share #6 Posted January 26, 2018 (edited) Thanks for the lovely photos, Jono. A tempting lens indeed - despite its price, weight and the excellent 75 apo summicron... Edited January 26, 2018 by anickpick
chris_tribble Posted January 27, 2018 Share #7 Posted January 27, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) "Summicron f2.4"?? Presumably Summarit? (I have the earlier f2.5 and it is indeed an under-rated gem as you say). Sorry - yes. Summarit. Focuses to .7m, weighs 326 gms (compared with 1055 gms for the Nocti!) and is easy to focus, razor sharp and (IMHO) renders beautifully. Nice little review here: http://joerivanderkloet.com/leica-summarit-m-752-4-review/ OK - I can see the special qualities of lenses like the Nocti (my favourite Canon lens ever was the massive 85mm L 1.2), but these days I'd rather keep things light and compact so long as IQ isn't sacrificed. Which is why the 75 Summarit works so well...
tobey bilek Posted January 27, 2018 Share #8 Posted January 27, 2018 Too much invested already. Keeping 75 APO.
SGV Posted January 28, 2018 Share #9 Posted January 28, 2018 Wonderful pics and review, Jono. Thank you. Do you have a similar article on the 75 APO? Or a photo album? I am currently choosing between between the 75 and the 90 (APO's) and although I read so much about the supposed clinical nature of the former it would be nice to "see" the lens from your perspective. Thanks again for sharing the article above.
Mr WelshB Posted January 29, 2018 Share #10 Posted January 29, 2018 Hello Jono, I very much enjoyed your pictures with this lens and the 75 APO for SL. Thank you for taking the time to review these lenses and share your thoughts. I really like this focal length. I have just managed to get hold of a 75 1.4 summilux and am enjoying learning how to get the most out of it. In a world where you had to choose a lens from the the 75 APO or the 75 Noctilux (and we forget the difference in price for a monument) for your SL which would sway you and why?
Herr Barnack Posted January 30, 2018 Share #11 Posted January 30, 2018 Until a seismic shift in my finances occurs, I will be forced to stick with my poor man's 75 Noctilux (the 90 Summicron APO). Life is still good, though.

enboe Posted February 24, 2018 Share #13 Posted February 24, 2018 Face the music, we all complain about the price, then find a way to finance one (wink!). The only question is when, and do I have time to buy and pay off a Titanium M-P before the 75/1.25 shows up. Eric

Chaemono Posted February 26, 2018 Share #15 Posted February 26, 2018 (edited) The built-in hood of the 75 Noctilux-M makes the lens less obtrusive than the 75 Summicron-SL IMO. That'll seal the deal for some. Edited February 26, 2018 by Chaemono
Gobert Posted February 26, 2018 Share #16 Posted February 26, 2018 The dog picture in the beginning.... wow, you know where to find the beautiful light.
pico Posted February 26, 2018 Share #17 Posted February 26, 2018 If the focus throw is too short, an extension such as Leicagoodies Steer might help. It helps me.
UliWer Posted February 26, 2018 Share #18 Posted February 26, 2018 (edited) On another site - which must not be named in this forum - there is a comparison between the 75mm Noctilux and the 75mm Summicron-M. My own summary: The Noctilux blocks much more of the M-finder than the Summmicron. The Noctilux resolves better at the center, the Summicron better in the edges - though differences are not great (at f2). The Noctilux is a little bit contrastier - though it shows much more chromatic aberrations than the Summicron (at f2 and wider but also at smaller f-stops). P.S.: An important german Leica dealer writes on his website about the Noctilux: "Due to the high number of preorders we are unable to tell any date of delivery for new orders." B-A-C Posted February 26, 2018 Share #19 Posted February 26, 2018 (edited) What? You don't have $13,000 lying around? Slumming it... Too much invested already. Keeping 75 APO. Edited February 26, 2018 by B-A-C
